Both Primary rainforest and shallow fringing reefs and mangroves offer a variety of ecosystems for university groups. We have been running trips for dissertation students based at our Eco resort Melina Beach, Tioman Island for many years. It is hoped that we will resume these trips in 2023 when overseas travel returns.
Pemuteran is a quaint fishing village in the North of Bali. Some 20 years ago, an artificial reef known as the Biorock was constructed to help restore the severely damaged coral reefs. Electric currents are sent through the Birock to encourage the growth of the corals. This location provides an ideal location for Marine Biologists and Geologists to zone in on methods of reef restoration and produce essential data necessary for future restoration projects.
